Discover the Best Tampons for Your Health: My Surprising Journey at Target

Good Morning Ladies!

Aunt Flow arrived yesterday and, of course, I ran out of tampons on my first day. CLASSIC!

I needed a quick solution and decided to meander my way through Target. I have ALWAYS used Tampax Radiant without a second thought until today, when I decided to stop and take a moment to read the ingredients list. I was shook. Here they are right from the website:

  • Rayon: Fibers that help absorb and retain fluid
  • Cotton: Fibers that help absorb and retain fluid
  • Polypropylene: Fibers that help channel fluid back to the core
  • Polyethylene: Fibers that help with smooth removal
  • Polyester: Thread that sews the tampon together
  • Glycerin: Coating that helps fibers wick fluid
  • Paraffin: Wax that helps keep the string clean
  • Ethoxylated Fatty Acid Esters: Coating that helps fibers wick fluid
  • PEG-100 Stearate: Coating that helps fibers wick fluid
  • Titanium Dioxide: Makes the thread look whiter

After I saw all these ingredients, I was really surprised because I won’t even put anything but cotton on this booty, so why am I putting other ingredients inside of me? Maybe it's just me, but it sounds weird. I looked around and found some great brands with no applicator, such as Cora. They seem like a FANTASTIC brand, but since I was doing this research in the store with a dead phone, I kinda needed to make a decision based on what I felt familiar with, but was maybe better.

I landed on the brand L. Here is their ingredient list:

  • Cotton: US grown organic cotton
  • Polyester: Fiber that wicks away moisture
  • Glycerin: Coating for a smooth feeling
  • Paraffin: Wax for a smooth feeling

Again, I was really surprised about the polyester, glycerin, and paraffin, but the ingredient list is overall better. I tried it out when I got home, and it was definitely familiar, with easy application, and comfortable. Honestly, I normally feel a slight irritation after inserting, but this time I felt VERY comfortable, so definitely moving in the right direction. I bought the 30-pack of regular and large, and I’ll be very happy to purchase them again. However, next time, I think I will try CORA and see how it goes. Their ingredient list is much simpler:

  • Organic cotton: Tampon, string
  • Paraffin: Water repellent wax coating for the string

THAT is an attractive ingredient list if I say so myself. Next shopping trip, I'm gonna try it out. Let me know what your favorite tampon brand is!

Why This Matters

Choosing the right tampons is more than just about comfort; it’s about health and peace of mind. Our bodies deserve the best care, and knowing what we’re putting inside them is crucial. Many conventional tampon brands use synthetic materials and chemicals that can be harsh on sensitive areas. Organic options, like those from Cora and L., offer a more natural alternative, reducing the risk of irritation and exposure to potentially harmful substances.

By taking a moment to consider the ingredients in our feminine hygiene products, we empower ourselves to make better choices for our bodies and overall well-being. This small change can lead to a more comfortable period and contribute to a healthier lifestyle. Remember, it's not just about what's comfortable but also about what’s safe and healthy.

So, next time you’re in the feminine hygiene aisle, take a moment to read the labels and choose what’s best for you. Our health is worth it!
